This 90 day study designed,
constructed, and managed a 10 x
15' home greenhouse using a
modified "Brace" design
incorporating passive solar
energy. The operation phase was
during winter of 1983-84 in
Denver, Co., USA. Extensive data
presented on solar gain, water
storage using 55 gal. drums, air,
water, soil temperature records.
This was a working greenhouse
growing vegetable and foliage
plant crops for self-sufficiency.
Results and conclusions were that
this was a workable, practical
design that used a minimum of
supportive heat during sub-
freezing weather. Study done and
book written by a solar greenhouse
contractor with a research
