As a quality "Seed Stock Producer" our Longhorn Program focuses on "sons of" and "daughters of" in our breeding stock. We strive to produce quality offspring with both excellent body conformation and horn length.
Our "Ideal Longhorn" is a balanced animal, at least that is what is most pleasing to our eye and what we look for when breeding. Additionally, we offer a variety of color patterns, ranging from solid colors to mixed color patterns.
We have two programs within our Longhorn herd... and our best animals are a combination of both.
1. Our Seedstock Program where we focus on using a combination of known quality bloodlines to reach for better horn as well as keeping a balanced body to go with the horns.
2. Our Body program, where we focus on a non-traditional fuller body that we can produce animals that can and do go into the freezer. We are now taking our excess bull/steer calves and putting them into a grass fed program at weaning time.
Here at RAF they are on rotational grass pastures and high quality hay but when they leave RAF they will go into a grass fed program to meet the newest standards of "Grass Fed Beef". Then when they reach processing weights, they go to the www.TXLonghornCoop.org that is located in Rice, Texas to be sold either wholesale to the Grocery Chain "Central Market", and other upcoming markets.
Or additionally, can be sold retail to any online customers that wish to know they are eating "Healthy Naturally Lean Grass Fed Beef" without hormones or antibiotics .
(USDA Inspected processing, with a Label to sell Grass Fed Longhorn Lean Meat)
The equine breeding program at Running Arrow Farm is designed to bring forward quality lineage traits of our Tennessee Walking Horses from the "Older Bloodlines" with natural plantation flat shod characteristics which blends wonderfully with the modern linebred pedigrees of today. Our horses are periodically saddle trained at Walker's West in Kaufman, TX.
Our two Stallions at Stud are "Dusty's Royal Flush" (a/k/a "Chance") and Mack K Shaker's Cajun (a/k/a "Cajun"). Both have produced quality get and are available for breeding to outside mares.
Chance is available for frozen, cooled, and on-site breeding... Cajun is on-site breeding only.
