Young Cows ~ from '01 thru '03

Our Young Cows from 2001 thru 2005.

These girls are the younger breeding females for our herd.  Oldest to youngest.  All have been bred by our bulls in 2007 for a 2008 Calf.

"Blue Mist"

(Easy Street KK X Ozark's Mist)

calved 5.2.01

hip height: 52" weight (digital scale):  1025#      tip 2 tip:  35"  base: 11.25" total

Blue Mist is half sister to our Jr. Herd Sire "Roundup's Blue Spock" thru their dam, Ozark's Mist who is an own daughter of the famous "Ozark Mountain Queen".  OMQ was one of the early cows in the longhorn breed to have 71" of tip to tip horn in her day.  This cow family is valuable to us because of the beautiful balanced maternal bodies that they impart to their offspring. We also own Blue's dam "Ozark's Mist".

Blue Mist is in Jet Black Phantom's pasture for her '08 calf.  Phantom really helps to bring lateral horn and a dark base color to his calves as well as provides a well known genetic base for us to use with our Roundup genetics.  This mating could produce the rare coveted "Blue Roan" coloring.

Ozark's Blue has already produced 5 heifers, 1 steer, and 1 bull so far for her career. She has the solid red bull calf at side now by her Windwalker's Dode mating .

Sage's Shadow

(Roundup's Purple Sage X Dark Shadows)

calved:  4.9.02

hip height:  52"  weight (digital scale):  986#     tip to tip:  47 3/8"  base:  11.5"  total:  62"

Sage's Shadow is an own daughter of "Dark Shadows" who is a "The Shadow" daughter that we also own.  Sage's Shadow is a valuable young girl for us as I have noticed that she really is able to put a calf that grows to have some size to it.  She is also a half sister to our Jr. Herd Sire, Roundup's Blue Spock thru their sire "Roundup's Purple Sage".

Sage is in Spock's pasture for her '08 calf.  This is a test mating to double up on their sire's (Purple Sage) genetics which is all Owen McGill breeding.  Sage brings her grand sire The Shadow and has Double Bred Overwhelmer to add to the Owen McGill base with Spock bringing the Ozark Mountain Queen lineage to the mix. Sage has a nice large horn base to her.

Sage has produced 3 bulls and 1 heifer for us so far for her career.

BLUE MOUNTAIN SASSY

 Calved:  5.15.03

Hip height:  51"  Weight (digital scale): 860#

Ttip to tip:  48 5/8"      Base:  10.5"       Total:  64.5"

Blue Mountain Sassy has mainly a Butler pedigree.  I was looking for something different for our herd and Sassy really caught my fancy.  She is a smaller cow that we thought would bring a nice change to our herd. Sassy has Wes Watson breeding for her topside and has Phenomenon and Bold Ruler on the bottomside.  Her calves can start out slow but show that with time they do develop into very nice heifers.  Sassy has had 3 heifers in a row for her calving career.

Sassy has a Windwalker Dode's heifer at side.

Blue Mountain Opal

(Caruso X Virginia 8/4)

Calved:  7.19.05

12.16.07 Horn TTT:  35.5"     Total Horn:  43"     Hip Ht:  47"

Opal is our only straight Butler bred heifer with old time Butler greats in her pedigree, top and bottom.  She was purchased from Aubrey Herring at Blue Mountain Longhorns.  She had a July 25, 2007 bull calf by "Roundup's Texan".

RAF Dixie's Red Sugar

(Red Glacier BCB X JK Dixie Rebel Princess)

Calved:  2.26.05     BW:  55#

On 7.12.07 She had:  TTT Horn 41"     Total Horn:  50"     Hip Ht:  54"

Photo 3.18.07

One of our quality solid red heifers.  She and all of her offspring are Millennium Futurity Eligible.  Classic, Dixie Rebel, Rose Red, Texas Ranger JP and other impressive ancestors on her pedigree.  She has a "Roundup's Blue Spock" bull calf at side.  She has been exposed again to Spock for a 2008 calf.

RAF Sage's Easy Street

Sold!

(Roundup's Purple Sage X Blue Mist)

Calved:  2.24.05     BW 46#

On 11.15.07:    Horn TTT:  39"     Total Horn:  48"     Hip Ht:  51"     Weight:  775#

"Easy Street" is out of our "Blue Mist" by "Roundup's Purple Sage" bull.  He is owned by Gary & Lisa Baugher.  She is a 3/4 sibling to our Junior Herd Sire, "Roundup's Blue Spock."  Easy Street has a fancy bul calf by RAF Rag Tag's Phenomenon at side.  She had a red heifer with a white star by our "Jet Black Phantom" March 22, 2008.

"Thanks Bud in Texas for purchasing this fine pair!"
